1,Air Cushion
Controlling the flare to land on the ground by utilizing air resistance (air absorption of shock)
2,Airfoil
The shape of a wing designed to create lift when flying in the air
3,Airspeed
The speed of a wing relative to its surrounding air, presented by a speed indicator. It is also called absolute speed.
4,Angle of Attack
The angle between a wing and the oncoming flow of wind
5,Area
Flight allowed area (flight zone)
6,Arbent Thermique
The rise of the heat air stored in a daytime forest, which takes place when a temperature goes down in the evening
7,Aspect Ratio
The ratio of the wing span and the chord, referring to the span squared, divided by the wing area.
8,Attack point
A final revolving point, from which a glider glides down, straightforward to the target zone
9,Bank Angle
The angle at which a wing is inclined about its longitudinal axis by rolling
10,Best Glide Speed
The speed at which the maximum L/D occurs
11,Bowl
A deep valley. Valley wind can create a strong rising air by being collected together on the bowl
12,Camber
The curvature of an airfoil’s upper surface
13,Canopy
The wing of a paraglider
14,Carabiner
A ring that connects the harness to a riser
15,Cell
Unit of an air room
16,Chord
The distance between the leading edge and trailing edge of a wing
17,Collapse
The folding of a part or entire part of a wing due to a decrease in air pressure within the canopy\
18,Crabbing
Flying sideways for a straight flight in the section of a crosswind. It is also called drift flight
19,Cross Port
A hole of the separator for ventilation between air rooms within the canopy
20,Cumulus
A globular cloud caused by a thermal.
21,Curl
A status of an eddy current behind the top of a mountain.

The power that works against the direction of travel of a wing. The power of resistance
23,Duration
Time of staying in the air
24,F.A.I.
Federation Aeronautique Internationale
25,Full Release
A status in which a flare chord is not pulled at all. It is also called ‘Manse,’ and can obtains the maximum speed.
26,Ground Handling
The practice of controlling a paraglider on the ground. The practice of taking off
27,Ground Speed
The speed of a wing relative to the ground, which is determined by the current wind speed. It is also called relative speed.
28,Gust
An irregular rush of wind
29,Harness
A device that secures and attaches a pilot to the paraglider
30,Leading Edge
The front part of a wing
31,Lift
Rising air that lifts a glider, according to Bernoulli’s principle)
32,Lift/Drag
Lift to drag ratio. It is also called L/D ratio or glide ratio
33,Log Book
A booklet of a pilot’s flying history
34,Min Sink Speed
The speed at which a sink ratio is minimized
35,Nose
The center part of a paraglider’s leading edge
36,Parachute
A device for slowing the descent of a person
37,Pitching
The rotating of a wing on its latitudinal axis
38,Ridge Soaring
A flight using lifting wind flowing up a slope
39,Right of Way
One glider’s right to a certain area over another glider to prevent a midair collision

40,Rise Up
Act of raising a glider by putting air to the canopy
41,Rolling
The rotating of a wing on its longitudinal axis.
42,Rotor
The Current of a whirlpool

Checking up safety
44,Separator
The vertical structure that composes an air room by connecting the upper surface of the canopy to the lower surface
45,Set Time
Completing a flight in time as an assignment of a competition
46,Setting
It unfolds the wing on the ground before a takeoff, connecting risers to the harness

Spiral descent
52,Spiral
A 360 degree steep banked turn
53,Spot Landing
Landing on a small area
54,Stabilizer
A vertical structure on each end of a wing, functioning as the vertical tail wing of a plane
55,Stall
It takes place at minimum speed, losing the function of a wing at once. Actual speed
56,Stall Speed
The speed at which a stall takes place
